SKILLS SHEET REVISIONS FOR PAPERS

The paper you just got back has two types of editing marks on it: one for mechanics (spelling, sentence and paragraph structure, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, etc.) and one for content (answering the prompt/purpose). In order to get a grade on the paper, you must submit a Skills Sheet and revise your paper. Keep in mind, you MUST HAND IN THE ORIGINAL DRAFT WITH YOUR REVISED COPY!!!

To complete the Skills Sheet Revision, look for highlights on your paper. They may cover whole paragraphs and sentences or just a word or punctuation mark. It is your job to figure out what you did wrong and find the rules that tell you how to correct the mistakes. Use the Wadsworth Handbook to find the grammar specifications. (See sample attachment for more information.) Completing this assignment is a separate grade from the paper itself, usually ranging from 15-25 points, and it is NOT optional. To complete your skills sheet for your essay, use the Wadsworth Handbook to analyze the highlighted areas of your paper. Make sure you use the SAME EXACT FORMAT as the sample. Use single spacing and format the indenting EXACTLY the same.

To revise the content of your paper, look for notations I have written in pen. They could be questions about confusing explanations or comments looking for additional information to help you make your point more clear. However, I do expect you to take a look at more than what I've written and apply my comments to your entire paper. Just revising only what I've noted shows me you're only looking at a line or two that I've marked instead of your entire writing style. As you revise the content, add your changes in mechanics as well. Before you hand in your paper again, proofread it to make sure you're not making the same common mechanical mistakes you did in the original copy.

When you hand in your Skills Sheets and revised content, YOU MUST also hand in your ORIGINAL HIGHLIGHTED PAPER I returned to you. Otherwise, I don't know what was highlighted or what needed to be changed, and I can't give you the points!
